Scope

Joshua M. Tawney (“I,” “me,” or “my”) operates joshuatawney.com (the “Site”), a personal portfolio and publication platform. This policy explains how information is handled when you visit the Site or contact me.

Information you choose to provide

If you email me or contact me through a link on the Site, I receive the information you choose to send, such as your name, email address, message, and any attachments. Please do not send sensitive personal information that is not needed for your inquiry.

The Site does not currently offer user accounts, newsletter registration, payment checkout, or a live contact form.

Basic technical information

The Site is hosted by Webflow. Webflow and its infrastructure may automatically process basic request and security information such as an IP address, browser or device type, requested page, date and time, referring page, and server logs. This information is used to deliver the Site, maintain performance, prevent abuse, and protect security.

Webflow may use cookies or similar technology that is necessary for core hosting, security, or site operation. See Webflow’s privacy policy for its practices.

No advertising or behavioral tracking

As of the effective date, I have not installed Google Analytics, advertising pixels, behavioral profiling, targeted advertising, or nonessential marketing cookies on the Site. I do not sell or rent personal information. If the Site’s practices materially change, this policy will be updated and any legally required choices or notices will be added.

Interactive guides and maps

The “How to Start a Small-Town Publication” guide includes an optional map tool. If you enter a town, state, or ZIP code, that location text is sent to the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service to find the place, and map-image requests are made to the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Map service. Do not enter a private address or other sensitive information.

Other worksheet answers in that guide remain in your browser and are not sent to me. The external services operate under their own practices, including the Nominatim usage policy and USGS privacy policies.

Third-party services and content

Some pages may load fonts, images, PDFs, maps, or interactive resources from Webflow or other external hosts. When your browser requests those resources, the provider may receive ordinary request data such as your IP address and browser information. Links to other websites are governed by those sites’ own terms and privacy practices.

How information is used and shared

I use information to respond to messages, operate and secure the Site, diagnose technical problems, understand direct feedback, comply with law, and protect rights and safety. I may share limited information with service providers that support the Site, when required by law or valid legal process, or when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, or harm.

I do not sell or rent personal information.

Retention and security

Email correspondence and related information are kept only as long as reasonably needed for the conversation, legitimate business records, legal obligations, or dispute resolution. Reasonable safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information that you have sent to me. Depending on where you live, local law may provide additional rights. To make a request, email josh@elkriverliving.com. I may need enough information to verify and complete the request.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact me so it can be addressed.
